Ikorodu Communities
Optimal Greening has identified and successfully prequalified three communities to scale up the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene program in the Ikorodu North area of Lagos. Each community has unique needs that require bespoke interventions.
Isiwu Community
Lack of access to clean water and proper sanitation is a pressing issue in Isiwu. The community relies on untreated water (sold by individuals) and makeshift toilets, which are insufficient to meet the community’s needs and places residents at a high risk of diseases.
Eginrin-Ekun Community
Eginrin-Ekun is a community dominated by students of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology. They face challenges related to the lack of access to potable water and water for domestic use. This directly affects the students’ ability to focus on education, undermining the primary reason for their presence in the community.
Idera Community
Idera Community School in Ikorodu North, Lagos State, Nigeria currently faces significant challenges, including overcrowded classrooms, with nine learning groups confined to just six classrooms, inadequate water and sanitation facilities, and lack of electricity. This project focused on Sanitation, Education, and Empowerment for Development (SEED) aims to address the critical needs of the school.
